240-Volt Power On Water (3000W Inverter)
Twilight Magic has a 3000W Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger as standard equipment which provides 240-volt electricity supply when on the water. If you do not have a 12-volt charger for your devices this inverter will supply you enough 240-volt power to charge them using your standard household 240-volt charger, watch television, cook your toast and run the air con up to 3 hours per day.
The inverter provides pure sine wave electricity which is smooth, quiet, and reliable enabling it to operate appliances and electronics without any interference. This means that it should be suitable for your laptop. If you are not sure contact the manufacturer. Make sure you check that it is operating correctly before departing the marina.
Your sleep apnoea machine will run off the inverter. There is one cabin on board that has a 240-volt powerpoint and we recommend that you bring a power lead that is around 2 metres in length to ensure that it reaches this power source. If you are not sure contact the manufacturer. Make sure you check that it is operating correctly before departing the marina.
The inverter is not able to power blenders, coffee machines, hair dryer & hair straighteners or other large wattage appliances so please leave them at home.
Air-conditioning
An air-conditioning unit is installed on Twilight Magic which will when using the shore power at the marina and as our boats have a 3000W inverter it can also be used when on the water without the noise of a generator up to 3 hours per day. The unit is pre-set with the optimum temperature and fan settings. There is no limit for air-conditioning use in the marina as you can plug into the shore power.
You will find on the water you are often blessed with cool breezes and when at anchor or on a mooring the boats naturally face into the wind. By opening the windows it will allow the breeze to flow through and each cabin and main galley has 12-volt fans that can be utilised as well.
If the air conditioning unit is run any longer than 3 hours per day you will significantly drain the batteries which supply power to the rest of the equipment on the boat. The Battery Management System is designed to cut out when batteries reach 50% and this means that the inverter will switch off automatically and 240-volt power supply will not work until the solar panels have been able to generate enough energy to get the batteries above this level and a program reset is undertaken. Please manage your energy consumption wisely.
Charts and Cruising Guides
All boats are equipped with:
Charts provide you with the distances to be travelled and the hazards to avoid when cruising the Moreton Bay and Pumicstone Passage. It is important that you know how to read them and to use them for your passage planning. For more accurate descriptions of inlets, anchorages, resorts and surrounding reefs, refer to the apps provided or the cruising notes provided. The Queensland Parks and Forest Service has an abundance of information of what’s on offer in the marine and national parks.
Music and TV
Music – All vessels are fitted with a marine stereo system with speakers on the fly bridge entertaining deck and in the main galley.
Smartphones – If you have a smartphone make sure you bring wireless speakers to listen to your own playlists. As internet coverage is not guaranteed in all areas you may want to download some music to listen to when there is no internet coverage.
TV – There is a flat screen digital TV with USB & HDMI ports. Good TV reception cannot be guaranteed in all locations even with a satellite antenna. If needed, download some movies to watch on your device or a HDMI cable connector to connect to them.
Refrigeration
The main galley has a 150L fridge and 50L freezer. The entertaining fly bridge deck has a freezer and fridge.
We recommend that you buy all your drinks, dry goods, non-refrigerated fruit & veggies, meat, fish and refrigerated produce for your trip. We suggest you consider how much you need to refrigerate and what can be frozen and thawed.
12-volt refrigeration is controlled by a thermostat that will switch the fridge or freezer compressor on or off as needed. Refrigeration units are designed to shut down at low voltage therefore always monitor your batteries and ensure fridge switches are left on.
VHF Radio
Volunteer Marine Rescue monitors the radio scanning all stations and after hours the emergency frequency Channel 16 is monitored.
Daily “schedules” are compulsory to be conducted twice daily to check the location and plans for the boat for the coming day/night. Current weather information is available via VHF.
At this time, we will give advice based on the current conditions to ensure that all charterers are having a safe and enjoyable night and have a suitable anchorage planned for the evening. These twice daily schedules are your opportunity to relay any important information back to base, ask questions and request advice on itinerary and plans for the coming days.
Charterers are not required to hold a marine radio license. Charterers are briefed on correct radio procedures as part of the pre-charter briefing.
